What is the difference between deep tissue and sports massage?

Deep Tissue Massage:

The aim of deep tissue massage is to leave the body in a deeper state of relaxation. It relieves stress, increases circulation, reduces body toxins, and minor physical pain. It’s a deeper massage pressure used to manipulate the deeper tissue layer in the body, compared to your standard massage. This is all the tissue layers that lay on top of the muscles, though not the muscle itself. We work on these layers, but not too deep as to work all the way through the muscles. This type of pressure is still efficient enough to release any newly formed or small knots, to stretch stiff muscles and to relieve minor aches and pains.

Sports Massage:

The aim of sports massage therapy is to increase flexibility, repair injuries or prevent potential injuries, increase range of movement and release muscular tension. This massage technique allows the therapist to work deeper into the muscle releasing the deeper muscular tension that builds over time because of injury, strenuous repetitive movement or muscle imbalance. This technique is great to ease chronic pain, release muscles stiffness, reducing stress and anxiety, prevent injuries, prevent or reduce DOMS - Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness and improve overall muscle performance.

Do you accept medical aid and will reflexology be covered by my medical aid?

Our patients need to pay us directly. Medical Aid schemes, such as Discovery Health, Bankmed, MediHelp and Wooltru Medical Aid will reimburse the patients from their medical aid savings account depending on their medical aid plan. We advise all our patients to contact their medical aid to find out if they will be reimbursed for Therapeutic Massage Therapy.
